Here you will find a copy of my syllabus, teaching tools, student video samples, and rubrics that we used when I taught at Napa Valley College: ESL 106 3 UNITS ORAL COMMUNICATION 5 Recommended Preparation: Concurrent or previous enrollment in ESL 80, 82, 84, or English 85, or an appropriate score on the ESL or English placement test is recommended before taking this class. Advanced oral communication skills class in which students will learn to listen actively, speak and pronounce with clarity, and communicate effectively in English. Students will practice improved pronunciation, and work collaboratively with other students to make oral presentations and contribute to group and class discussions about topics of current interest, including intercultural communication, being a global/local citizen, forming and expressing their opinion.
